Well it's official. Summer is gone for now and i'm cold. I most likely won't warm-up again until mid April. Sounds horrible, doesn't it? And to think the high tomorrow is 84! What will I sound like in January? eeeish.
Until then let's enjoy clothing, layering, accessorizing and of course agonizing over Halloween Costumes!
eeeish again.

In an effort to warm-up

you first start with a 'babycake'.

a rice filled little friend that can be warmed up in the microwave for lasting, soothing comfort.

the babycake is the younger (smaller) sibling to the adored 'ricecake'.

then you up-style your coffee cup while warming those chili digits.

now that you're caffeinated, head into the kitchen & bake something! Nothing warms the heart & soul like an oven pre-heated to 375.

Bake something sweet & yummy,

but eewie, tie your hair up first, please!

You'd better head out for a little exercise after all that eating. Don't worry, the more you get moving the quicker you'll warm-up.

after all of that, pretty yourself up with clothing & accessories. Wear tights, grab a sweater &

, you're done!

say it ain't so. back to school already?

Does this mean that the Winter will be upon us?

I suppose the fact that it's 94 degrees out at the moment means I'm jumping the gun a bit with this fear of winter looming, but it really is.

School has been back in for 4 days now and I'm having some real transitions issues.

For starters it's so quiet around here. You'd think I'd be in heaven as well as getting a lot done.

Not so much.

'sweet' things continue to be made in the busy sewing studio

and it'll be nice to have the young energy of interns back in action

but I will miss summer. a lot.

I guess it's time to think about fleece and wool instead of linen and seersucker for a while.

Must. Embrace.

we sported our red, white and blue for the big day.

Captain America is hiding out behind us, all you can see of the little guy are his skull shoes and not his festive tee I spent hours on (well, really just minutes, but c'mon).

The polka-dot-girl has been wearing that dress since her very 1st 4th of july and each year it receives an addition/alteration in order to grow with her. This year the addition was made to the back side.

Oh, and here's my little Captain.

I used to make these a long time ago, they were in the shape of fish.

I called them 'warmies' - now they need a good name.

They're filled with rice. When you heat them in the microwave they act as a natural heating pad.

You'll be amazed how long they stay warm.

They're great for crummy tummy, cold days in the car seat, mommy's back pain...

endless uses.

We're working on all sorts of cute patterns and when my camera batteries are charged I'll photo some more to share.

Well, here they are.

It feels like a nice new major purchase or a giant new home furnishing item, but it was only 20 bucks in fabric and a few hours to cover what were super ugly pillows. Ahhh!

I've been a bit distracted the last day (or so) with some fun side-'jobs'. If I call them Jobs then I'm still working, right? Right. So, that being said I've been working hard and having fun. The belts are just a must, they hold up the pant but look Oh So Cute doing it.

The girls (the interns I mean) and I had a great 'craft day' last week and we'd still be crafting if we didn't have to get on with some of life's other responsibilities, it was a lot of fun. Above is our mess and some of the the results. Hopefully before too long I will get some pics up of all the new pillows I made for my living room. Ahhhh, sigh, smile.

A lot going on in the Crabcakes studio these days! With the introduction of two new interns and many orders to fill, the girls have been thrown right into the mix and so far so great!

Maybe it's the rain outside... Or perhaps just my desire to be Done with winter (unless of course we get boatloads more snow soon!).

Either way I know Spring will be here (soon?) and when it is I sure want to be ready. Let's start thinking Pinks and Greens again, eh? I'm a firm believer that pink and green -and orange- make the world go 'round.

Just realized this dress has very little pink and No orange, but you catch my drift, right?

I feel like I'm buried neck deep in fleece.

Partially because I'm busy and feeling behind (no thanks to snow days that easily could have been school days)

But also because it's Chilly in here!

I made this in the fall, if I had made it in the last 4 weeks it would have sleeves and maybe another lining for warmth.

I'm amazed at how warm fleece is.

I can't say what it's like to be a big sis to anyone... tho I tried my hardest as a kid to get my parents to give me a baby sibling. He's the new (and first) baby for my friends Jackie and Karl and he's a little muffin. Just look at that face.

I got to meet him on day 2 of his life earlier this week and it was official, he's Henry....

But in an effort to never let go of the nickname he was given while in the womb, I made him a little something.

Wweeell I started this post with a Halloween theme in mind. It had skulls and cross bones, the whole 9... But then I realized I haven't downloaded pictures in ages and have nothing new. Since I feel as though I haven't posted anything in ages, either, here's a pic of a fun long sleeve chunky necklace tee I did recently.

There's something fun about getting a new tee and new jewelry all in one!

My Ultra Cool friend Lori invited me to thePayless Shoesource headquarters for an opportunity to meet the Hot Mess himself, Christian Siriano!

How psyched was I?

He's collaborating with Payless on a shoe line and was there on a meet-the-staff / book signing junket.

I waited patiently in a long line of people eager to meet the little guy. They brought everything from his new book to his new Payless shoe designs for him to sign.

It was finally my turn.... We chatted about friends in common and I got his Fierce autograph on a couple of photos of my nephew Dylan who, in the photo, is crawling behind the backdrop of the Project Runway set runway.

I love to look at Blogs; they're such a strange phenomenon, but I must admit, I love the pictures more than anything. Even tho I care what they have to say (really, sometimes I do) I rarely read what's in print, I go straight for the new photos, I'm a visual person through and through.

I'm going through my photos, in an effort to produce an album for what's new this Fall/Winter & I realize how many photos I have to share but just haven't:
